Serving as the seat of Lincoln County since 1909, the town of Carrizozo got it's start a decade before when the railroad brought visitors after the gold boom of White Oaks. Often described as a town full of rich history with a fast growing art community, Carrizozo sits at the four way of HWY 54 and State HWY 380 in the northwest section of the Sacramento mountain range. If you enjoy beautiful sunsets and wide open spaces with great mountain views, Carrizozo might be the place for you.
Stroll down the historic 12th street to view buildings from the 1910s still in use today as theaters and galleries. The film industry seems to have a crush on Carrizozo with multiple movies being filmed in the area including the most recent "Book of Eli". Just outside of Carrizozo to the west is a 40 mile long lava flow that is one of the youngest volcanic features of New Mexico, known as the Valley of Fires Recreation Area.
